The Hamline University class started as the Hamline University Taekwondo club during Spring Term 1999. The following Fall Term, it was granted accredited status as an activity course.

The Fall Term 2005 marked a change to a daytime class held in the Walker Fieldhouse and the change from a .5 credit class to a 1.0 credit class.
